Swiss Musicians Association
The Swiss Musicians' Association (SMV for short), Union Suisse des Artistes Musiciens in French, (USDAM for short) is the union of the members of the Swiss professional symphony orchestras and freelance professional musicians, it was founded in 1914 and is financed by the contributions of its members. The SMV is politically independent and has a socially open-minded and economically responsible attitude.
Mission statement
The purpose of the SMV is to bring together professional musicians in Switzerland. It protects the intellectual and material interests of its members in professional matters and offers them further training and information. He wants to achieve unity and the corresponding strength in the realization of his professional political goals and demands.
The SMV is committed to the recognition and promotion of the musician profession in the cultural, political and social environment by negotiating collective agreements, collective labor contracts and individual labor contracts, as well as issuing collective bargaining regulations. It promotes protection against occupational health damage and works to optimize the working conditions of musicians. He also issues political statements.
Member services
Services for its members are legal advice and legal protection, representation in the conclusion of engagements and debt collection, as well as financial help. The SMV publishes an association newspaper free of charge for members, and there are also section magazines.
Education and training
The SMV organizes specialist conferences for its members, promotes young talent and promotes further training and influences the design of basic training at conservatories and music colleges.
construction
The association has a federal structure. Autonomous sections represent the SMV in their region. There are sections in Basel , Bern , Biel , Geneva , Lucerne , St. Gallen , Waadt , Winterthur and Zurich .
The central association connects the sections and represents the SMV on a national and international level.
