Swivel lift

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A swivel lift is a device used to lift wheelchairs in a motor vehicle. They consist of a hydraulic unit ( hydraulic pump ) with hydraulic oil tank, the lifting platform with various anti-roll devices, the electrical switching unit, a rotating column and several hydraulic hoses. The rotating column, around the axis of which the manual rotating movement takes place, is attached to the bottom of the vehicle floor and to a strut on top of the vehicle's C-column. The upward lifting movement takes place with the help of a hydraulic pump, which is supplied with voltage (12 V) from the car battery . The downward lifting movement is very simple due to the weight of the lifting platform.

properties

With a relatively low dead weight of approx. 90 kg, a swivel lift has a load capacity of up to 350 kg. Even wheelchair users with electric wheelchairs can safely get into the vehicle interior. Most swing lift manufacturers offer different lifting platform sizes. It is therefore possible to choose between different lifting platform sizes depending on the type of vehicle and wheelchair. The lifting platform is foldable, which means that when not in use, a swivel lift only needs approx. 30 cm of space in the passenger compartment and, when in use, also little space behind the vehicle, as the lifting platform can be accessed from the sidewalk. Roll-off protection flaps, which are folded up during transport, and a side guardrail on which the wheelchair user can hold on, ensure a high level of safety.

Applications and areas of use

For almost 30 years, swing lifts have been used to transport the disabled. They are also used primarily by travel services increasingly by individuals, since they almost all minibuses and minivans fit.
