Floating grab is the name for a type of work ship that can be used in combination as a dredger and a floating crane .
In the fairway and navigation administration of the Federal floating grab, for example, for the installation and removal of lock components , the recovery of rivers and canals, the removal of floating debris , the Ausforstung of wind damage , the removal of depths as well as for work on the embankments used.
The equipment is either permanently installed on the pontoon-shaped hull , or it can be taken on board via a loading ramp . Self-propelled dredger (z. B. the Faaborg System Ship ) have their own marine propulsion , otherwise they will be as a barge towed to their site.
