Scotch & Soda is a Dutch clothing company. The label was founded in 1985 and is present in more than 70 countries with more than 200 stores. Scotch & Soda is headquartered in Amsterdam and designs collections in a former church in the center of the city. Scotch & Soda has been part of the US Kellwood Co. since 2011.
Corporate development
The Scotch & Soda brand was founded in 1985, followed by a restart in 2001 with three new owners. According to its own information, the company has around 200 stores worldwide and is present in more than 8,000 concession shops.
In January 2016, Scotch & Soda announced a revenue loss of 74 million euros for the 2014/15 financial year. The reasons given for this were a decline in sales in wholesale , which accounts for 75% of sales. In contrast, sales increased in their own stores. In October 2016, however, sales increased by around 1.1 million euros for the 2015/16 fiscal year.
Germany
The first Scotch & Soda store opened in Hamburg in March 2011. In 2012 a second store followed in Berlin, which has an area of 140 m². Scotch & Soda currently operates 30 stores in Germany. In 2015 the group defined Germany as an investment market outside the Netherlands.
Worldwide
Eight Scotch & Soda stores opened in the US in 2012. The group also acquired two sales outlets in London . From 2014, textiles from Scotch & Soda were available in Hong Kong as part of a partnership with the ImagineX-Group . In 2015, two additional stores were added in Beverly Hills and Williamsburg . In addition, Scotch & Soda managed to offer its textiles in Japan through a partnership with Itochu. In September 2016, Scotch & Soda opened another store in Manhattan and now had around 150 stores. Scotch & Soda also wanted to have 11-15 stores in Canada .
In 2017, India Times reported that Indian company Reliance Brands had signed a deal with Scotch & Soda that would have Scotch & Soda stores in all major Indian cities by the end of 2017.
