Script supervisor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Script Supervisor ( English for "script supervisor" or "script supervisor") is a term used in US films and television series .

The script supervisor is on the film set during the shooting and is responsible for ensuring that every change to the script - for example changes to dialogues or sequences of actions - is logged and recorded.

Since the scriptwriter is usually not on set during this process, another person has to take on this very conscientious and precise task. The more precisely the changes are recorded, the more clearly the film editor can work, the film music can be adapted and the easier it is to produce pick-up recordings , among other things . It also avoids continuity errors.

The task of the script supervisor is usually taken over by the story editor or prospective scriptwriters; almost 90 percent of all script supervisors are women . In the German-speaking area there is a different system that cannot be compared with this one. The German term that comes closest to this profession is Script / Continuity (formerly also called Script Girl ; however, this term is considered outdated and no longer in use).
