The Scuola dei Mercanti is a building to the left of the Madonna dell'Orto church in Venice , built in 1570 . Site manager was Andrea Palladio . The architecture is not considered typical of Palladio. The original furnishings with eight columns made of Istrian stone and a wooden beam ceiling have been preserved on the ground floor .

The brotherhood that supported the school was founded in 1374 and merged with the Scuola di Santa Maria e Francesco ai Frari or Scuola Grande della Misericordia in 1570 . The school was closed in 1806. The works of art, including a painting by Paolo Veronese , were then scattered. The hall on the ground floor was used as a cinema and theater hall. Today, like the hall on the first floor, it serves the parish.
