Scurge: Hive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scurge: Hive is a video game from SouthPeak Games , which was released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo DS , both versions being almost identical in content. The only difference is a minimap, which is displayed on the second screen in the DS version. The game is very similar to the Metroid games, but does not play in side view, but in isometric perspective . It also has some role-playing elements.

action

At the beginning of the game, the heroine is infected with a virus , which causes her to mutate after a certain time. To prevent a mutation , the infection can be reset to save points. The whole gameplay consists of looking for upgrades that allow other types of shots, which are particularly effective against certain opponents, or enable a special skill. By killing enemies you get experience which leads to an increase in life force. You have to explore large isometric areas.

reception

Critics were mostly positive, but a very common point of criticism was the isometric perspective, which made aiming and other actions unnecessarily difficult. The resulting frustration in fighting was also criticized. Graphics and sound, as well as story and characters, were however praised.
