The Sd.Kfz. 6 ( S on d ER- K raft f Ahr z eug 6 - Medium 5 tractors t ) was a half-track of the German Army . During the Second World War, the vehicles were mainly used as an artillery tractor for the 10.5 cm light field howitzer 18 . The army was introduced in 1934. About 3000 Sd.Kfz. 6 manufactured.

Production was stopped in 1943 in favor of the Wehrmacht tugs and caterpillar tugs East . The reason was that, compared to the much more simply built Wehrmacht tugs, the Sd.Kfz. 6 represented elaborate constructions that had been developed in peacetime. This implied higher production and maintenance costs, which could be reduced in this way.
