Seahorse is a Gnome application to manage GPG and SSH keys in the Gnome keyring . The Gnome Keyring enables the storage and provision of passwords, encryption and certificates for applications. Seahorse is based on GnuPG, forms a front-end for keyring and provides management options. The application is licensed as Free Software under the GNU General Public License.

Functions

Seahorse provides the following functions for the Gnome desktop:

  • Encryption, decryption and signing of files and text
  • Management of keys and key rings (keyring)
  • Synchronization of encryption with key servers
  • Signing and publishing of keys
  • Creation of backups of keys
  • Creation and configuration of SSH keys
