Sealer (dentistry)

As Sealer ( English : sealer ) is referred to in the dentistry an almost cementitious material during filling of the root canals is used. It is mainly used for lateral condensation , a root canal filling method. Sealers can be based on zinc oxide - eugenol , epoxy resin , calcium hydroxide or glass ionomer cement .

Its tasks are:

  • Compensate for micro-unevenness between the gutta-percha points and the inner wall of the canal
  • Fill side and accessory canals
  • Connect the root canal post and the canal wall
