Twhirl is a micro-blogging client for social networks such as Twitter or Identi.ca that Marco Kaiser developed.

It allows the user to write and send the so-called tweets without having to access his Twitter user profile via the web interface. It is also possible to send private messages ( directs ) to other Twitter users. Sending images to yfrog is also possible. The Twitter search can also be accessed.

The current version of Twhirl is 0.9.7 and is based on Adobe AIR . This must be installed for Twhirl to work.

Twhirl is officially for Windows 2000 , Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows 7 and Mac OS X available. Since Adobe AIR is also available for Linux, Twhirl can also be operated on this platform. The program supports the following languages: German, English, Spanish and Italian. It is also possible to choose different themes to change the appearance.

Twhirl will remain available, but will be given up in the medium term in favor of the successor Seesmic Desktop . After a long time there was an update for Twhirl in the meantime; Among other things, native retweets are now displayed, albeit as classic RTs.
