Segment weir

Pressure segment weir on Illinois Waterway

A segment weir is an adjustable weir .

Its flood gate consists of a shield that is rotatably attached to a support structure at a point. The shield can be lowered into the water and pulled out again using tie rods or chains. If the point around which the shield rotates is above the weir, one speaks of a train segment weir; otherwise from a pressure segment weir. A segment weir is generally traversed below. The more controllable attack operation is only possible if an additional fish-bellied flap is installed on the shield . In this case, both operating modes are possible.

Segment doors can also be used as train segment doors in locks.
