The Erzurum chess flower ( Fritillaria alburyana ) is a species of the genus Fritillaria .
features
The Erzurum chess flower is a perennial herbaceous onion plant that reaches heights of 5 to 15 centimeters. There are 3 to 4 leaves . The lower ones are broadly lanceolate, gray-green and measure 5 to 8 × 1 to 2.5 centimeters. The 1 to 2 flowers are cup-shaped and have a whitish checkerboard pattern. At first they are erect, later they protrude or nod. The tepals measure 20 to 30 × 10 to 15 millimeters. The stylus are three columns, their branches are 1 to 2 millimeters long.
The flowering period extends from April to May.
Occurrence
The Erzurum chess flower occurs in northeastern Turkey on scree and rocks at snow patches at altitudes of 2000 to 2900 meters.
