The Silk Road in Rostock is a short street in the historic center of the Hanseatic city . It connects Hartestrasse with Fischbank in a north-south direction . It is part of the former Rostock old town .

The road was in 1633, under the Low German name Siedenbüdel ersterwähnt what either Be d ene or Be t enbeutel means. In fact, around 1800 it was popularly known as Hahnreihstraße because of its narrow space and seclusion . It was also known for a time under the name Enge Straße . In the 19th century it was renamed the Silk Road for the purpose of upgrading it .

In both of the catastrophes in Rostock's history , the Great Fire of 1677 and the four-night bombing at the end of April 1942, the Silk Road was completely destroyed. Today it is built with uniform houses on both sides.
