The Sekondi-Takoradi Stadium or Essipong Stadium is a multifunctional stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi , the second largest city in Ghana , built in Essipong near Takoradi. It is mainly used for football events and is the home stadium of the FC Hasaacas Sekondi club .
Some games of the 2008 African Cup of Nations took place here. The stadium holds 20,000 spectators and was opened in 2008. It was built by the Chinese company Shangai Construction Company Limited with a planned total cost of 38.5 million US dollars .
