The Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club , Hasaacas for short , also known as Hasmal , is a Ghanaian football club from Sekondi , which plays its home games at the Essipong Sports Stadium .

history

The association was founded on April 1, 1931 by six railway workers and two lawyers , namely Hammond, Amua, Sakyi, Adotei, Allotey, Cann, Adotey and Sackey, and named after their first letters "HASAACAS". The founding fathers mainly came from Accra and were supporters of Hearts of Oak , so they initially chose the rainbow colors as the club colors in order to avoid confusion, but a few years later replaced them with white, green and red.

In 1956 Hasaacas took part in the national soccer championship , which was held for the first time , but joined the boycott of the four clubs from the Ashanti region during the current season and did not end the season. In 1958 the club was one of the eight founding members of the Ghana Football League . In May 1963, after 28 of a total of 34 game days of the current season , Hasaacas was excluded from the league by Ohene Djan and replaced by Ghana Independence . This was preceded by the club's refusal to hand over its best player Modibo Toe to the Real Republikans model club . Two years later, the club returned to the league, followed by relegation from the league in 1972 and immediate resurgence in the following season. In 1977 Hasaacas won the Ghanaian championship for the only time in the club's history. After Hasaacas was defeated by city rivals Eleven Wise 0-1 in the national cup final in 1982 , the club known as the "Giants of the West" was able to celebrate the cup victory in 1985 with a 3-0 victory over Asante Kotoko . 1990 to 1996 and 2010 to 2013 Hasaacas had to compete in the One League division , both times managed to rise again within a few years; since relegation again at the end of 2016, the club has been playing second class again.

International competitions

Hasaacas reached the semi-finals of the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1981 , won the WAFU Club Cup in 1982 and reached the final of the competition again the following year.
