The Wa All Stars FC is a football club from the Ghanaian city of Wa . It was founded in January 2006 and was briefly known as "Stallions FC" due to an incomplete sale in 2019. The club's greatest success was winning the Ghanaian championship in 2016.

history

In order to promote football in the Upper West Region - the region was previously not represented with a team in the top Ghanaian football league for seventeen years - the Wa All Stars Football Club was founded in January 2006 (according to other information already in December 2005) Founded by Kwesi Nyantakyi , then President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The club began first in the third-rate Upper West Regional Division Two and after only one more year in the second-rate Division One League , the club was able to qualify in the promotion round (National Middle League) for the Premier League in March 2007 . A protest about the use of an ineligible player was dismissed in August 2007, the first season in the Premier League closed the "(Northern) Blues" in seventh place. In the following years, the club finished the league in midfield, before Wa All Stars FC celebrated winning the Ghanaian championship for the first time on September 14, 2016 with a 2-1 win over direct competitor Aduana Stars . In January 2017, the team also won the national Supercup with a 1-0 win in Tamale over cup winner Bechem United .

In January 2019, rumors surfaced that former Ghanaian international John Paintsil had bought the club from its owner Kwesi Nyantakyi, who the previous year had been banned from all football-related activities for life by the FIFA Ethics Committee for corruption . However, the rumors of a sale have been denied. At the end of March, Paintsil announced that, together with his investors, he was the new owner of the club and the club name was officially changed to "Stallions FC" on February 28, 2019; the purchase price is said to have been about 2.5 million US dollars . At the end of April, however, it became public that the contract between Nyantakyi and Paintsil was not executed because the new owners had not paid the purchase price in full. In the Normalization Committee Special Competition , the replacement for the failed Premier League in 2019, the club was the only first division representative not to take part.

The club plays its home games in the 5,000-seat Wa Sports Stadium ("Wa Park").
