Ghanaian football championship 1956

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ghanaian Football Championship 1956 ( English GAFA Championship ) was a championship in men's football organized by the Ghana Amateur Football Association (GAFA). The championship, organized by the GAFA based on the idea of Ken Harrison and chaired by Ohene Djan and Richard Akwei , was boycotted by the four clubs from Kumasi , which were subsequently excluded. During the season, these clubs were able to convince eight more to get out of the championship; at the end of the season only Accra Hearts of Oak and Sekondi Eleven Wise remained, who went down in the history of Ghanaian football as the first (unofficial) champion and runner-up, respectively.
