Selander (ship type)

Selander was a Byzantine warship type from the 9th century . It was developed from Dromone , Pamphile and Galee . Selander were usually rowed by up to 26 people, but also had a mast and sails. This type of ship remained in use in the Mediterranean until the Middle Ages and was used as a war and transport ship by the Italian sea cities during the Crusades.
