Self-help association for lip and palate malformations

The self-help association for lip and palate malformations eV - Wolfgang Rosenthal Society (WRG) - is a non-profit, German association.

Parents of children with lip, jaw, palate or sail malformations (short: LKGS malformation or lip and palate malformation) or a Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) founded the self-help association in 1981. This aims to promote the treatment and improve the entire environment of LKGS sufferers. Members are self-affected, their relatives and relevant experts. In addition to the full-time information and advisory work carried out from the office in Wetzlar in Hesse, around 70 contact persons and regional self-help groups are available in Germany to provide direct support to those affected. The association organizes weekend seminars for teenagers, young adults, adults and parents. Wolfgang Rosenthal is the namesake of the self-help association. As early as the 1820s, the oral surgeon called for interdisciplinary cooperation between all specialist therapists involved in the treatment of lip and palate malformations .

The association also acts as a publisher. He publishes the magazine “Faces”, which appears three times a year, with reports from those affected and specialist articles on all aspects of lip and palate malformations. Relevant topics and fields of interest are: oral and maxillofacial surgery , orthodontics , ear, nose and throat medicine , speech therapy , paediatrics , nutrition and breastfeeding advice . 17 brochures have now been published on the same topics.
