Zacharias Vogelius

Zacharias Vogelius , also Vogel , (* 1593 in Zwickau ; † 1656 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and general superintendent for the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg from 1645 to 1656.

Live and act

Vogelius began his theological career in 1617 as a preacher to St. Sebastian and St. Nicolai in Magdeburg .

In 1626 he went as a pastor to Angern in the ore monastery of Magdeburg and from there in 1637 moved to Bismark in the Altmark .

On May 9, 1637, he took up his post as a deacon at the Ratzeburg Cathedral .

In 1645 he was appointed pastor in Lauenburg / Elbe and general superintendent of the Duchy of Lauenburg, committed himself to the Lower Saxony church order on October 3, 1645 and took up this office on December 9 of the same year.

During his service in Lauenburg / Elbe, Vogelius published several writings, including the funeral sermons for Duke August von Sachsen-Lauenburg (1656) and his son Johann Adolf (1646).
