Melchior Cramer , also Cramerus , (* 1599 in Herford ; † February 24, 1645 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and general superintendent for the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg from 1638 to 1645.

Live and act

Cramer came from Westphalia . He was pastor at the Marienkirche in Parchim for eleven years until he was driven into exile by the war riots and went to Lüneburg . There he was unexpectedly appointed General Superintendent for the Duchy of Lauenburg in the autumn of 1638 by Duke August von Sachsen-Lauenburg , because his signature on the church ordinance "dated October 17, 1638".

“Because he had not had time to say goodbye to his parish in Parchim, he added to a declaration he had published by the prophet Joel in 19 sermons, his farewell speech to his former parish and at the same time his inaugural address to the Lauenburgers under the title: Vale Parchimicum et Salve Leoburgicum . "

After he died in 1645 at the age of 46, his widow had an epitaph set for him, which is still in the Maria Magdalenen Church in Lauenburg / Elbe.
