Seleucus III Keraunos ( Greek : Σέλευκος Κεραυνός) or Soter (Greek: Σωτήρ; * 243 BC ; † 223 BC ) was the eldest son of Seleucus II and Kallinikos for a short time (226–223 BC) .) King in the Seleucid Empire . His nicknames were "Donner" and "Retter", his birth name was Alexander.

226 BC He succeeded his father Seleukos II as king of the Seleucid Empire after he was fatally injured when he fell from his horse. 223 BC He was murdered in Asia Minor by members of his army during a campaign against Attalus I of Pergamon .
