Sencha Touch is a JavaScript - Framework , designed specifically for the mobile web was developed. With the framework, web developers can develop mobile web applications that feel and look like a native app on mobile devices. It is based on web standards such as HTML5 , CSS3 and JavaScript, with which HTML5-based mobile apps can be developed quickly and easily , which can run on all operating systems such as Android , iOS , Windows , Blackberry etc.

Versions and support

Sencha Touch is a Sencha product that was created as a JavaScript library from the merging of the Ext JS, jQTouch and Raphaël projects. On July 17, 2010, the first version of Sencha Touch went online as version 0.90 beta, which already supports Android and iOS. The first fully functional version was version 1.0 in November 2010. With version 1.1.0 the support of BlackBerry OS (at least version 6) was added. The Sencha Touch 2.3.1 release went online in November 2013. It is designed to run on the following browsers: Android Browser, Google Chrome for Android, BlackBerry 10, Bada Mobile Browser, Kindle Fire Browser, Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 IE10 and Mobile Safari. So Sencha Touch supports most browsers apart from Firefox Mobile.

Features

Sencha Touch includes some user interfaces to the computer or graphical user interfaces (abbreviation GUI from English Graphical User Interface ) that are optimized for creating mobile web applications, as they primarily facilitate the operation of touch-screen devices. These user interfaces include: buttons with device-dependent themes and effects; Form elements such as e-mail, date picker, addresses; Sliders, selectors, toolbars and menus and maps with touch controls such as zoom. In versions 1 to 2.1, Sass Base64 -coded files (.png) were parsed into the stylesheet, since 2.2. a web font is used that is included in parts of the SCSS file.

particularities

A native app has access to the hardware of the mobile device, such as the compass and the microphone. An integration of the hardware was not previously possible in mobile applications. Sencha Touch can be used with Cordova, PhoneGap or a native packager to create applications for mobile devices that have access to hardware components and that can be found in the app stores. With the release of version 2.3, Sencha Touch was connected to Apache Cordova. This allows many programming interfaces (abbreviation API for application programming interface) from Cordova to be more easily integrated into the system. These include APIs such as: Camera, Geolocation, Notification, Splashscreen, Contacts, Storage. Cordova is one of the most popular container technologies.
