The Senckenbergiana biologica , usually with Senck. biol. abbreviated, was a specialist journal for zoology and botany that appeared from 1954 to 2008 with two issues per year. The journal was created in 1954, as a successor title, by splitting up the earlier journal Senckenbergiana : scientific reports of the Senckenbergische Naturforschenden Gesellschaft , with volume 35, in two, from 1969 in three, journals (the other successor title was Senckenbergiana lethaea , later also Senckenbergiana maritima ) . Works on the morphology and taxonomy of animals and plants as well as related or resulting questions in ecology and phylogeny were accepted. The last editor was the biologist Wolfgang A. Nässig , who works at the Senckenberg Research Institute .

The tables of contents of all published issues are made permanently available on the saturnia.de website.
