The station Wolvertem was a radio station of the VRT . It was located about 15 kilometers as the crow flies north of the city center of the Belgian capital Brussels , on a site on the northwestern outskirts of the Impde settlement, which belongs to the municipality of Meise .

Transmission technology

The Wolvertem system had four antenna masts and, in addition to the broadcasting facilities at Wavre, was the second large medium-wave transmitter in Belgium . The transmitter served to broadcast the 1st program on the frequency 927 kHz with 300 kW and used a 165-meter-high steel truss mast, which was located on the station premises and was insulated from earth. By March 2008, Wolvertem also broadcast the Belgian international service program on the frequency 1512 kHz, for which a T-antenna, which was suspended from two 90-meter-high steel framework masts, was used. A fourth, 80 meter high transmitter mast on the station premises served as a reserve antenna for both frequencies.

On December 31, 2011, the last frequency, 927 kHz, was switched off and all four transmission masts were blown up on June 26, 2017.
