Mustard energy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A mustard energy is an allergy to mustard (and foods that contain mustard ). Affected people have an allergic reaction after ingesting mustard with their food. Mustard is therefore subject to mandatory labeling of ingredients in food.

A mustard energy can also lead to allergic reactions to related cruciferous plants ( Chinese cabbage , rapeseed , cauliflower , beets and others).

Foods containing mustard

Mustard can be found in the following foods, among others:

  • Curry,
  • Soups,
  • Stews,
  • Grill, fondue and salad dressings,
  • Pickled preserves (e.g. pickled cucumbers),
  • Mayonnaise.

In food processing companies, traces of mustard can also be contained in other products due to production processes and must therefore also be labeled.
