The Qakilik district ( Chinese  若羌 县 , Pinyin Ruòqiāng Xiàn ; Uighur چاقىلىق ناھىيىسى Qaⱪiliⱪ Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous District in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It borders in the west on the district of Qarqan and in the north-west on the district of Lopnur (both also in Bayingolin), in the north on the district of Piqan in the administrative district of Turpan and on the city of Kumul in the administrative district of the same name, in the west on the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai and in South to Qinghai and the Tibet Autonomous Region . With 199,222 km², Qakilik is the largest district in China.

The circle is through the Lop Nor desert , the salt lake of Lop Nor , the ruins of Loulan and Miran and the necropolis Xiaohe become world famous.

Administrative division and population

The population of the district was around 30,000 at the end of 2004 (population density: 0.15 inh / km²). The census in 2000 had 28,636 inhabitants. At the community level, Qakilik consists of an administrative area office, five large communities , three communities and a production and development corps . These are:

  • Greater community Ruoqiang (若羌镇), seat of the county government, 6,376 inhabitants (2000);
  • Large municipality Lopnur (罗布泊 镇), new establishment, no information for 2000;
  • Large municipality of Waxxari (瓦 石峡 镇), 4.691 inhabitants (2000);
  • Tikanlik municipality (铁 干 里克 镇), 4,457 inhabitants (2000);
  • Utam municipality (吾 塔 木 乡), 3,550 inhabitants (2000);
  • Official area location QIMAN (祁曼区公所);
    • Greater community Yetimbulak (依吞布拉克镇), 654 inhabitants (2000);
    • Community of Tomürlük (铁 木 里克 乡), 248 inhabitants (2000);
    • Qimantag municipality (祁 曼塔格 乡), 67 inhabitants (2000);
  • Production and construction corps No. 36 (兵团 三 十六 团), 8,593 inhabitants (2000).
