The Monschau mustard mill is located at Laufenstrasse 118 in Monschau . The Laufenbach flows past the mill, a tributary of the Rur . The owner and operator is the fifth generation of the Breuer family. Both the building and the technical equipment are listed.

The family has been making mustard since 1882 , originally at the Holzmarkt, at that time without using a mill. The mustard mill was then built where the water wheel is still today. The mill was initially driven by the water wheel, later by a steam engine and then by the motor that is still in use today. The move with all equipment to the current location took place in the 1950s. The raw material for mustard is obtained using the cold grinding process; today over 20 different types of mustard are offered.

In 2008, in collaboration with Claudia Mayer, Professor of Communication Studies at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences , the idea for a museum concept was born. Guided tours are offered. The mill now includes a mustard shop, a restaurant and a wine cellar.
