Seniorate Order

The seniority order was an award of the Ernestine line of the Wettins donated in 1732 at Oldisleben . The founder was the co-ruling Duke and senior of the entire “High Princely House of Saxony”, Friedrich Wilhelm of Saxony-Coburg-Meiningen .

Order decoration

The order decoration consisted of a white enameled eight-pointed golden cross. There were eight golden balls at the tips. The four cross angles were decorated with the ducal Saxon coat of arms. On the crest was princely . The obverse of the cross showed the initials "FW" covered by a princely hat. On the middle part of the cross it read “Lin” on the right and “Ern” on the left. The order's motto on the front “IN MEMOR” “SENII ANNO” “1732”. The words: “Ami-citiae et Vir-tuti” were engraved on the reverse of the cross. A suspension ring was attached to the upper cross arm.

After October 18, 1737, the order was used slightly modified.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The medal was worn on the chest on a red ribbon around the neck.
