Senior work
Senior citizen work describes all areas of practice within social work that deal with a clientele of people who are about to retire or who are already retired, i.e. in Germany all clients from 60 to the end of life. However, it is also a theoretical field and a specialization area within scientific social work . About the term or the use of the name: Senior work is synonymous with senior work. In order to prevent stigmatization in the sense of old = incompetent, the Latin term for old person ( senior ) is often used. The Scientific Society of the German Society for Gerontology and Geriatrics e. V. uses the term Society for Social Gerontology and Elderly Work for the corresponding section No. IV .
Senior work is divided into individual help (e.g. senior counseling, family counseling), group offers such as the senior citizens 'afternoon or the internet group of a senior citizens' meeting and social senior citizens 'policy as a form of community work (senior advisory council work, senior citizens' council ). However, senior work is not a form of therapy in medicine or psychology.
