Senninha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Senninha ( little Senna ) is a comic figure created in Brazil by the cartoonists Ridaut and Rogério , who caricatures three-time Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna as an eight-year-old boy.

In addition to the fictional adventures, numerous realistic anecdotes from Senna's childhood were processed.

From March 15, 1994, the magazine appeared fortnightly. About two years after Senna's death, sales of comic books began to stagnate, and the series was eventually discontinued for economic reasons.

At the same time as the booklets, merchandising articles were created around the comic figure. Today Senninha is one of the market leaders in the comic business in Brazil with over 350 merchandising items.

The merchandising items represented an important source of income for the Instituto Ayrton Senna , whose charitable projects receive all royalties from Senninha products. The institute supports social projects for Brazilian street children.

In late 2005, a cartoon with Senninha was released. Senninha em dia de mudança received an award for the best Brazilian cartoon at the Anima Mundi comic film festival in Rio de Janeiro.
