Senouras is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Almeida district in the Guarda district in Portugal . The community had an area of 9.6 km² and 38 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

location

It is a very old, small and very quiet village, which is still partly shaped by the 19th century. It is surrounded by still untouched nature, whose fields are only intended for agriculture and whose harvest is intended for the residents' own domestic use.

As in almost all Portuguese villages, Senouras also has a saint as the patron saint of the village. The patron saint is Santa Catarina. In her honor, a three-day festival was organized every two years, now every three years. This festival usually takes place in August of the “festival year”.

The villages in the immediate vicinity are called Mido and Aldeia Nova and are about two kilometers away. It is also worth mentioning the proximity to the small river Rio Coa, which is suitable for swimming due to the low water current.

The next larger towns are Almeida and Vilar Formoso, where the border with Spain is also located. The two villages are about 15 kilometers away. The nearest town, Guarda , which can be reached via the toll-free A25 motorway , is 35 kilometers away.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Senouras, Aldeia Nova , Leomil and Mido were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Leomil, Mido, Senouras e Aldeia Nova .
