Heribert von der Wetterau
Heribert von der Wetterau (* 925 ; † 992 ) was Count Palatine , 949 Count in Kinziggau , Engersgau , Wetterau and 976 von Gleiberg .
Heribert came from the family of the Conradines and was a son of Count Udo I. von der Wetterau , to whom Emperor Otto the Great had granted the right to divide his imperial fiefs among his sons as if they were personal or allodial property. When his father Udo died in 949, Heribert received the Gleiberg Castle near Gießen with the associated ownership and bailiwick rights and thus established the County of Gleiberg . In 982/83 he moved with Emperor Otto II to Italy, where he took part in the Battle of Cape Colonna (Battle of Cotrone) on July 13, 982 against the Saracens under Emir Abu al-Qasim .
The children came from his marriage to Irmtrud (or Irmentrud) von Avalgau (957-1020), the daughter of Count Megingoz and Gerberga :
- Gebhart (approx. 965–8 November 1016)
- Otto I. von Hammerstein (approx. 975–5 June 1036)
- Gerberga (approx. 960 - after 1036), possibly the wife of Heinrich von Schweinfurt (* before 980, † September 18, 1017)
- Irmtrud von der Wetterau (also Irmintrud), heiress of Gleiberg (* 972, † after 985), the future wife of Friedrich von Luxemburg , Count in Moselgau and Vogt of the monasteries Stablo and Malmedy ; Ancestral mother of the Counts of Gleiberg.
