from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sentier des Chamois (German chamois path ) is a mountain trail in the Swiss canton of Valais in the Val de Bagnes between the Cabane du Mont Fort and the Lac de Louvie above the village of Lourtier .

It leads from the Cabane du Mont Fort (Mont-Fort hut) through the steep, mostly grassy, but rocky southwest flank of the Bec des Rosses at an altitude of about 2500-2600 m over the Col Termin to the Lac du Louvie. There are two variants from Col Termin to Lac de Louvie. The path offers an excellent view of the opposite Grand Combin and its Glacier de Corbassière , which flows north , as well as views down into the Val de Bagnes. There are also a large number of ibex and chamois here . The path is marked in white, red and white and in good condition. Rock passages are secured with chains. A minimum of surefootedness and a head for heights is required, in some parts there is a risk of falling. It is not recommended for inexperienced hikers ( T3 , rather upper limit).
