Senufo (people)
The Senufo are an ethnic group of around three million people living in northern Ivory Coast , southern Mali and western Burkina Faso .
They speak about 20 different Senufo languages belonging to the Niger-Congo languages .
The Senufo migrated from the area of today's Mali to their current settlement area in the 15th and 16th centuries .
They founded u. a. the Kgr. Kenedugu .
The people are known for the production of wooden masks as well as figures and tools of the Poro secret society . Masks, human figures and jewelry are made from bronze . The Poro still partly determines the religious and social life of the Senufo.
