On August 10, 2014, on Sepahan Airlines flight 5915 ( flight number : HH5915), an HESA Iran-140-100, an Iranian license build of the Antonov An-140 , crashed immediately after taking off from Tehran-Mehrabad airport due to an engine failure. All six crew members and 34 of the 42 passengers were killed in the accident.

The Sepahan Airlines plane crashed shortly after take-off at 9:18 a.m. local time ( UTC + 4:30 ) on a residential area near the airport. Thereupon a fire broke out. The cause of the accident was the failure of one of the two engines.

consequences

The Iranian President Hassan Rohani imposed a starting ban on all machines of this type until the cause of the accident was clarified.
