Sepalot , actually Sebastian Weiss (born before 1992) is a German DJ and music producer from Munich . From 1992 he was a producer and member of the hip-hop band Blumentopf , and since 2008 he has published solo albums.

biography

In 1992 the hip-hop band Blumentopf (with DJ Sepalot) was founded in Freising. She released her first album No Chance on Four Music in 1997, followed by further publications with the band until 2012 on Four Music and EMI.

In 2003 Sepalot released the album Eskapaden together with the singer Esther Adam on the label of the same name.

In 2008 Sepalot released his first solo album Red Handed and the single Go get it feat. Ladi6 on Compost Records.

In 2010 an EP collaboration with MC Frank Nitt followed, Fracture, which was released on the MPN label.

The feuilleton of the Süddeutsche Zeitung dedicated its front page to him and described Beat Konducta Bavaria and his album Chasing Clouds as "... one of the most incredible German pop productions of the year ... the best German hip-hop album 2011". With over 250,000 YouTube plays, the single Rainbows was both an "Internet blog hit" and in the airplay charts on the commercial radio charts from college radios to Bayern 3.

In 2012 Sepalot released the album Chasing Beats on Escapade Music. Chasing Beats is a continuation of Chasing Clouds . Conceptually and in terms of content, the two albums are based on the same basis. Most of the album was recorded in Philadelphia in the gatehouse of an underground car park, the rest somewhere between Moscow and Vienna - on the ICE, at the airport and in the studio at home.

The album Black Sky was released by Eskapaden Musik in 2013. On this record, the chasing clouds of his previous album have condensed into the eponymous "Black Sky". The driving sound clouds have swallowed a large part of Sepalot's sunny disposition, and so his characteristic relaxation has given way to an orchestrated melancholy and aggressiveness, which Sepalot himself a little surprised. "The record reflects a dark side of me that I didn't even know existed," he admits.

As a testimonial of the sports label O'Neill, he combines his passions: surfing and music.

info

Sepalot sees itself in the function of DJ as a representative of an art form. For his solo album productions with national and international guests such as Fashawn, Blu, Jesper Munk, Miss Platnum, Saigon, Ladi6 and Frank N Dank and his study of Bavarian folk music ( Beat Konducta Bavaria ), he received worldwide attention, especially through the use of its titles in films and advertising trailers.
