The seram spiny rat ( Rattus feliceus ) is a rat and belongs to the subfamily of the old world mice (Murinae). Their habitats are on Seram Island , from sea level to an altitude of 1800 meters. Presumably it is related to New Guinea species like Rattus leucopus . However, there are no species in New Guinea with which it bears a strong resemblance. Until 1986 it was considered a subspecies of Rattus leucopus , Rattus ruber, or Rattus ringens . Only ten animals have been caught to date.

The seram spiny rat is a large reddish brown rat. The fur is spiky, the tail is short. The scales on the tail are relatively large. Females have 2 + 2 = 8 mammary glands (two pairs on the chest and two on the stomach). The belly is white. This species becomes 200 to 230 mm long ( head-trunk length ). The tail can also be 200 to 230 mm long. The ear length is 20.5 to 23 mm. Adult animals weigh 272 to 345 g.
