The Serezaner (also Seressaner , von Rotmäntel ) were the mounted teams that had belonged to the earlier Austrian border regiments at the military border since 1700 and carried out reconnaissance and patrol services.

They were armed with a long shotgun, pistols and handshake , and dressed in blue dolman , red cloak and red cap. Feared by their bravery and cruelty, they have lost more and more importance since the Seven Years' War. From 1871, the Serezan Corps performed gendarmerie service at the former military border and was subordinate to the General Command in Agram . In 1881 they joined the ku gendarmerie .
