Serge Arcuri

Serge Arcuri (born June 10, 1954 in Beauharnois ) is a Canadian composer.

Life

Arcuri studied music analysis (first prize 1979) and composition (first prize 1981) at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal with Gilles Tremblay , then (1984/85) electroacoustics at the University of Montreal with Yves Daoust and Marcelle Deschênes .

In 1981 he received the Sir Ernest MacMillan Award from the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association of Canada (CAPAC) for his orchestral work Agrégats . In 1984 he won prizes in two categories for the piece Résurgence in the competition for young composers of the CBC National Radio . In the following years he received composition commissions a. a. by the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (Prologue, 1985) and the Fédération des orchestres de jeunes du Québec ( Brumes and Amers , 1986).

From 1985 to 1988 Arcuri was President of the Association pour la création et la recherche électroacoustiques du Québec , and he is also a member of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community and the Canadian League of Composers .
