After graduating from high school, he traveled to Chicago , USA , where he lived and worked for several years. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War . After this experience, he decided to return to Guatemala, where he began studying philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of San Carlos . There he was trained by professors such as José Mata Gavidia and Rodolfo Ortíz Amiel.

He received the Cum Laude for his bachelor thesis El problema antropológico y Marcuse . He entered the university's Faculty of Humanities as a professor of philosophy, where he worked for about 30 years.

In addition to courses in the history of philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities, he also worked in the Faculties of Pharmacy and Engineering and taught courses in logic and philosophy of science . He was also one of the first professors to work on expanding the humanities faculty in other cities in Guatemala. This led him to work at several universities, such as the Mariano-Galvez University, Francisco-Morroquín University and the Mesoamericana University.

At the same time he taught as a professor at the seminary of the Salesians of Don Bosco for theology and philosophy, where he worked until his death. He was also active at conferences in various institutions in the country, such as the National Institute for Forensic Sciences of Guatemala (Inacif) and the Ministerio Público (MP). In addition to his numerous positions in commissions and working groups, he was appointed Vice President at the Colegio de Humanidades in 1985.

He is the author of many books dealing with the study of logic. These works represent various exercises in formal, analytical and inductive logic, which are particularly aimed at students of chemistry, biology and medicine. They are not only used in several universities in Guatemala, but also in colleges and high schools. Until its publication, there were no textbooks on these disciplines for students in Guatemala.

He wrote textbooks on epistemology, which are intended to introduce the students didactically to the basic problems of philosophy from a historical point of view.

Create

At the time of his death, the book Metafísica de la estructura formal de la posibilidad pura II: el fenómeno de la otredad was in the process of being published. It was intended to expand and deepen the first volume of his metaphysical research. In this he concentrates on the metaphysical-ontic phenomenon of "otredad" (" otherness ") in different dimensions:

  1. As a sign directed to the structure of the pure possibility to reveal it as the basis.
  2. The structure of possibility is discovered as an explanation for the encounter of possibility and its metaphysical components, God , man and cosmos .
  3. The structure of the pure possibility explains the unity within the diversity of the components of the phenomenon of "otherness".
  4. The structure of pure possibility is the metaphysical basis sought in the entire history of philosophy.
  5. The metaphysical idea of the structure of pure possibility "opens" the possibilities for further exploration of the most important problems of philosophy.
