Sergio Herman (born May 5, 1970 in Oostburg , province of Zeeland ) is a Dutch chef.

Career

Herman is self-taught, he did not do a cooking apprenticeship, just an internship. From 1990 he cooked in the family business Oud Sluis . His parents had developed it into a well-known mussel restaurant.

In 1995 his restaurant was rated with one Michelin star in the Guide Michelin , in 1999 with two stars and in 2005 with the highest rating of three Michelin stars. The restaurant guide Gault-Millau awarded his restaurant in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009 with a rating of 19.5 / 20 points in the relevant manual. In 2010 the Gault Millau Hermans Restaurant was the first in the Benelux countries to award the maximum number of points of 20/20 points. Herman has gained particular recognition in the field of molecular cuisine.

On December 22, 2013, Herman closed the Oud Sluis because it was too small. On March 25, 2014, he and Nick Bril opened The Jane restaurant in Antwerp .

Private life

Herman is married to the TV presenter Ellemieke Vermolen (* 1976). They have two sons together.
