Sergio Tiempo

Sergio Daniel Tiempo (born February 24, 1972 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan - Argentine pianist living in Brussels .

Sergio Tiempo began playing the piano at an early age and received his first lessons from his mother, the Argentine pianist Lyl Tiempo . At the age of 7 he gave his first concerts in Great Britain and France, among others, partly together with his sister Karin Lechner, who is also a pianist .

He became aware of him at the age of 8 when he was performing at the Ealing Music Festival in London in 1980. The joint performance of works by Mozart, Bizet, Milhaud and Infante with his sister in the Doelen concert hall in Rotterdam in 1985 was released on record and CD. In the following year, 1986, Sergio Tiempo was awarded the "Alex De Vries" prize and his first solo appearances at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam followed.

His list of instrumental teachers includes Tessa Nicholson, Pierre Sancan , Michel Béroff , Jaques Detiege, Alan Weiss and Nelson Freire . He was also a participant in the International Piano Academy Lake Como, where he worked with Dimitri Bashkirov , Fou Ts'ong , Murray Perahia and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau . This also resulted in a collaboration and joint appearance with Martha Argerich , who subsequently remained one of his strongest supporters.

Since then, Sergio Tiempo has been in demand around the world and has performed with leading orchestras and ensembles. Also in combination with his sister Karin Lechner, Sergio Tiempo appears in many concert halls and festivals as Duo Lechner Tiempo. There are also many recordings of the duo.
