The Sersa Group , an abbreviation for "Soudage électrique des rails SA", is an international Swiss railway technology company . Sersa offers a wide range of services and its own products for everything to do with rail infrastructure; its core business includes track construction and maintenance for a wide variety of track widths and types of rail. Sersa also offers the construction of electrical systems, surveying systems and logistics solutions and project management .

history

Sersa was founded in 1948 in the canton of Neuchâtel and registered as a stock corporation in the Swiss commercial register in 1952. In 1979 Arnold Schnyder acquired the company and established it as a partner of the railways for maintenance work in the Zurich region and in the field of rail welding in the Zurich-Chur and Neuchâtel regions.

In 1986 Schnyder's son Konrad took over the management. Under the direction of Konrad Schnyder, Sersa opened up new fields of activity, became an important partner of the Swiss Federal Railways and became internationally active. In 1992, Sersa GmbH in Germany was the first subsidiary abroad.

In 1993 all Sersa subsidiaries were merged into Orion Holding, while operational management remained with Sersa AG. In 2001 the Sersa Group Management AG was founded and took over the management of the group under the sole owner and CEO Konrad Schnyder. In 2012, Sersa merged with the Austrian rail technology company Rhomberg Rail GmbH to form Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group Holding GmbH. 

Locations

Today Sersa has 14 locations in Switzerland, the headquarters are in Zurich. There are also joint locations of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Turkey, Australia and Canada.
