Service stations Honningsvåg
The Honningsvåg service stations (Norwegian: Fiskernes Servicestasjon ) are listed buildings for the fishing industry in the town of Honningsvåg , in the Norwegian municipality of Nordkapp .
They stand in the city's harbor and are connected to Sjøgata on the land side .
Architecture and history
The city's service stations consist of three buildings that were built between 1955 and 1961. Other details give the period from 1953 to 1955. As an architectural office, it was Norges Fiskarlags Bygn. Tekn. Consultant office active. The stations contain work and overnight accommodation for fishermen as well as appropriate social facilities. The buildings are based on the conceptual idea of centralizing the functions that originally existed in the individual smaller fishing operations and were not directly linked to production. This should reduce the fishermen's dependence on the fish buyers. The idea was welcomed by the fishing cooperatives, but ultimately only implemented in Honningsvåg. The background to the new building was the almost complete destruction of Honningsvåg and the harbor during the Second World War as part of the German company Nordlicht and the complete rebuilding of the city and the infrastructure that was required.
During the construction of the service stations, the land on the land towards Sjøgata was somewhat filled in, but the rest of the historic port structure was continued. A larger-scale filling, as provided for in the original plans, was omitted. Since their completion, the service stations have been used by local and foreign fishermen according to their purpose.
