The Youth Participation Service Agency ( SJB ) was founded in 2001 as a 3-year model project of the Democratic Youth Foundation and funded by the Federal Youth Ministry. The aim of the SJB is to enable youth participation at all levels by young people for young people. Since the pilot phase, the SJB has been designing its activities around the areas of the infoscout network, regional service points for youth participation and the infoservice as part of project work. It is a non-profit registered association and works nationwide.

One of the core activities is the coordination and networking of active and committed young people (e.g. in student representation structures or child and youth parliaments ) throughout Germany. In the Infoscout network, committed individuals from all over Germany organized themselves between 2001 and 2011 in order to provide each other with access to information and opportunities to participate and to approach the participants on so-called Infoscout missions (ISE) at events (e.g. Constitution Days, All-Day School Congress, Berlin 05 ) inform and network.

The acquisition of qualifications for their project work plays an important role for committed young people, this is where the SJB comes in with its qualification offer and offers seminars on topics such as the moderation of events or project management . In addition, she implements her own model projects and model projects with numerous project partners.

Regional youth participation service centers work in cities and towns and their local area. They try to build up local participation structures for young people and to sensitize adult structures for the needs of young people. In this work, the regional SJBs are supported by the nationwide SJB.

The SJB has been in existence beyond the set period and unites more than 1200 committed young people in over twelve regional service points.
