Sete Quedas

The Sete Quedas Waterfalls ( Saltos del Guairá in Spanish ) were located near the cities of Guaíra on the Brazilian and Salto del Guairá on the Paraguayan side of the Río Paraná . The waterfalls were flooded in 1982 when the Paraná was dammed for the Itaipú hydropower plant .

Before the reservoir was flooded, the cases, divided into seven groups, had a total height of 114 m with a height of 40 m in the largest single case and an average water flow of 13,000 m³ / s (maximum 50,000 m³ / s)
