Seven Steps To The Green Door is a so-called Progressive - crossover band from Germany, founded of 2004.

history

Seven Steps to the Green Door was founded in 2004 by drummer Ulf Reinhardt, bassist Heiko Rehm (both ex- Mothers Pride ) and keyboardist and saxophonist Marek Arnold ( Toxic Smile , ex- star combo Meißen , Cyril, Flaming Row ). In the same year, singer Lars Köhler and guitarist Andreas Gemeinhardt joined them. The first own songs were recorded in the studio in early 2005. Also from 2005 Ronny Gruber (ex- testimony ) supported the band as a further singer and in early 2006 this was completed by the voice of Anne Trautmann.

Seven Steps to the Green Door released their debut album The Puzzle on the F.-act-Records label in mid-2006 . In the same year they won the “German Rock and Pop Prize” for this album in two categories (progressive and experimental). In 2008 the second album Step in 2 My World was released on the American label progrockrecords. The concept album The? Book emerged from the collaboration with the author Thoralf Koss , which critically examines the handling of belief and self-discovery. Together with many guests (including musicians from Flaming Row, Toxic Smile , Sjaella ) the album was realized and was released in 2011 by Progressive Promotion . In 2012, an interactive app for iOS for The? Book was implemented together with the software company Glanzkinder .

On November 9, 2015, the fourth album Fetish was released, like its predecessor on the German label Progressive Promotion Records . Guitarist Martin Schnella (Flaming Row) replaced Andreas Gemeinhardt as a full band member and produced the album together with Marek Arnold. Various guests played on the album, including Arno Menses (Subsignal) and Arnold's bandmates at United Progressive Fraternity, Daniel Mash and Steve Unruh. The album's success led to invitations to festivals and other venues. In 2016/17 the fetish tour led the band, together with the new live guitarist Stephan Pankow (Toxic Smile), the singer Sören Flechsig and the singer Jana Pöche so u. a. to the festivals Night of the Prog (DE), Crescendo (FR), ArtRock Festival (DE) and Summers End (UK).

The 5th album The? Lie , which was released on April 30, 2019, is the second part of the concept album The? Book . To work on it, the band brought in Thoralf Koss and the American poet George Andrade, who developed a storyline and wrote the lyrics. In addition, new characters in the plot with the multi-instrumentalist and singer Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales, Camel, The Tangent) and Jana Pöche have been cast. The majority of the guitars on the album were arranged and recorded by Luke Machin (Maschine, The Tangent, Francis Dunnery Band). a. the meanwhile permanent bassist Michael Schetter (Relocator, Time Shift Accident), Steve Unruh (violin), Susann Kammler (oboe) and others are represented on the album. The previous guitarist Martin Schnella is not represented as a musician, but took over mixing and mastering. The album, produced by Marek Arnold, was released again on the Progressive Promotion Records label. Since January 2020 there are two permanent new members in the band: Martin Fankhänel (guitar) and Valentin Klose (bass).
