Night of the Prog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Night of the Prog , also known as NOTP , is a progressive rock - and Metal - Festival , which annually on the outdoor stage Loreley takes place in Germany.

The festival

It was first held in 2006, when it was still one day. The following year, the festival took place on two days, in 2008 on three, then again on two days. Since the tenth anniversary in 2015, the NOTP has been a three-day festival.

The focus of the festival is on progressive rock and progressive metal with their various subgenres as well as on styles with points of contact with prog. Bands from the heyday of classic prog in the 1970s and the neo-prog scene of the 1980s appear as well more current bands. In addition to established names such as Asia , Jethro Tull , Marillion , Dream Theater and Opeth , these also include newcomers. The NOTP festival is currently one of the largest events in progressive rock and progressive metal worldwide.

In 2020 the festival will be postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic
